Thank goodness that we have the joy of music, the rush of theatre, the thrill of dance, the excitement of painting; in short—that delicious ability to be entertained, enlightened, enraptured, to escape.
After all, as Oscar Wilde said, “The stage is not merely the meeting place of all the arts, but is also the return of art to life.” Thomas Merton put it this way: "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time."
As we sit before the stage, we know we’re lucky. Not only lucky that we have exquisite opportunities, but also that we have had the opportunity to learn how to partake of them. "Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing,” said Camille Pissarro. So, it is on the wings of imagination, ebullience and distinction that we present our 13th season at Zoellner.
